Fecula Biotechnology has mastered encapsulation technology for resistant starch, which can be applied to various cancer vaccines.

Fecula Biotechnology, located in the Nankang Technology Park Incubation Center, was established in 2019 and received angel investment from the National Development Fund in 2020. The company develops functional ingredients for health foods using agricultural resources and has successfully developed ingredients such as banana resistant starch, banana peel extract powder, concentrated extract powder of calamondin, fish scale calcium, and strawberry leaf extract, which have been used in the development of five health food products and one skincare product.

CEO Miles Chen stated that the company's core technology is the encapsulation technology for resistant starch, primarily extracted from green bananas. They have established different specifications for resistant starch to be applied in the development of health foods and oral new drugs. In health food applications, the formulation design focuses on proprietary probiotic encapsulation combined with functional ingredients; in new drug development, this includes an oral liver cancer vaccine and an oral formulation for microbiota transplantation. Additionally, the strawberry leaf extract has completed cosmetic ingredient development with support from the SBIR program and has undergone human clinical trials, confirming its efficacy in inhibiting melanin production, moisturizing, and improving skin firmness. Results from cellular and molecular biology tests also indicate its potential for developing plant-based new drugs to inhibit cancer cell metastasis.

Miles Chen pointed out that the application areas of the company’s technology include various cancers and infectious diseases, and they will continue to develop Taiwan's agricultural resources, fulfilling their corporate social responsibility and promoting it worldwide.
